Here's why criminals get caught - they're DUMB!

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Authorities say two Port St. Lucie woman tried to steal nearly $200 worth of merchandise from a Wal-Mart but got caught because they left packets of recently developed pictures in their abandoned shopping carts.

Police say a self-checkout cashier noticed two women scan and pay for $70 worth of items Thursday, but the bagged groceries in their carts appeared worth much more. When the cashier asked to see their receipt, the women took off.

Among all the merchandise that hadn't been paid for, store officials found two packets of recently developed pictures. The cashier identified the women in the photos, and the name and phone number on the envelopes turned out to belong to one of the women.

Both women face retail theft charges.

Do You Have to be Told?

With people doing stupid things and many associated lawsuits, companies have to be very specific about what their product can and cannot be used for. But you'd think that there has got to be a limit to people's stupidity...
Apparently not. According to that classic book, Uncle John's Bathroom Reader these are actual warning labels!

On children's cough syrup: "Do not drive car or operate machinery."

On a motorcycle mirror: "Objects in the mirror are actually behind you."

On a box of sleeping pills: "May cause drowsiness"

On a bag of peanuts: "This product contains nuts"

On an iron: "Never iron clothes on the body"

On a hammer: "Do not use to strike any solid object"

Polar Bear Swim!

Well, I've wondered different times what a New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim was like. So, this year I decided that I'd give it a try. Anika and Alaina also bravely joined in! Alexandra preferred to stay on shore and watch. (maybe she was the smart one among us? :-) )
Suffice to say, the water was FREEZING. It was a bright and sunny day and a memory was created. Wonder if it'll become a tradition?

Since the rest of us will be taking a 'pay cut' by having higher taxes in the future to pay for their jobs, this Canadian Auto Workers statement is unbelievable, ridiculous, crazy and downright stupid!

Dec. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Canadian autoworkers don’t feel pressure to agree to further wage concessions to bolster General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC, union President Ken Lewenza said. “I resent the fact that wages are even getting any discussion because in Canada, 7 percent of the cost of a vehicle is related to wages,” the Canadian Auto Workers chief said today in a Bloomberg Television interview. This article is from January of last year: With the Canadian dollar at par, CAW hourly wage and benefit costs of $75 to $80 an hour are $5 to $10 higher than the $70 (U.S.) to $80 figures in the United States, Mr. Stanford said. Higher productivity in the Canadian plants more than compensates for what now is a cost disadvantage here, he said.

We have no idea how Mr. Dion is going to come up with a stimulus package more quickly than the massed ranks in the Department of Finance, who are toiling to complete the next budget in time for the end of January.
There are no details of what will be in it, beyond the fact that it will cost $30-billion, a figure TD Bank chief economist Don Drummond says will drive Canada into a structural, prolonged deficit. It sounds very much like the coalition has not worked out what the country needs — it has merely picked a big number and will now decide how to spend it.

Are You a Nagger?

One thing that I have had to grow in is talking about what I'm thinking and feeling so that those close to me don't have to harass me to get information about life, work, and feelings. I have learned that it is not OK to put people in the position where they feel like they have to 'nag'. The other side of that though was made abundantly clear in my devotions.

I'm reading through the book of Judges right now. I just finished reading about Samson. I'm loath to say nasty things about him, but this guy was a bit nuts in some ways. Ok - maybe not nuts, but a bit of a tool.


Chapter 14 says how he sees this woman, tells his parents to set up the wedding. They are not wild about it for various reasons, which proves to be wisdom. (Alexandra - remember that!:-)) Anyway, i think that he wanted to make a little money for his honeymoon, so he has a little bet with his attendants. (again, another little lesson, don't gamble :-)) It they lose, the 30 of them would each give him a 'linen garment and a set of clothes'. If he loses, he'd give them each one. They can't solve it, so they threaten his wife to find the answer. She really works it. "You hate me! You don't really love me." because you wont tell me. (another little gem:that might have been a clue to pull out of the wedding) Then for 7 days (!)she cries about it and nags him until he gives in. She gives up the answer, he gets angry, kills some people to get the garments and walks out.

Think he learned about being a little more careful with people? NOOOO! 2 chapters later he meets up Delialah and she wants to know the secret of his strength (so she can sell him out). He wont tell her (i think he has trust issues now). She doesn't get the message that he is not ready to 'open his heart' yet.

She persists even though Samson gives excuses 3 times. yet - finally she pulls the "you don't love me card". v. 15 "how can you say, 'I love you', when you won't confide in me?" (THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALARM BELLS GOING OFF BY NOW!) v. 16 "With such nagging she prodded day after day until he was tired to death" (that's a direct quote from the NIV Bible).

Ends up Samson is caught, eyes are gouged out and he is imprisoned...

Let's review the fruits of nagging:

30 dead Philistines
stolen clothes
guoged out eyes
imprisoned
shallow relationships

So - still want to be a nagger?
