How Old Are You?

Here's a little trick to correctly guess someone's age... Here's the instructions to give them.

"Write down the number of the month you were born in. (We'll use July as an example, so write 7), Multiply that by 2 and you'd get 14. Add 5 to that, multiply by 50 and then add your age. Subtract 365. Add 115." The only part of the calculation to be revealed to the 'psychic' is the answer. From that you can guess the month someone was born in as well as their age. In this case the answer would be 739. You can now tell them that they were born in July and that they are 39 years old.

Try it on yourself first then give it a whirl on someone else. They'll be impressed at your new found prophetic abilities. :-)

better check your math, Chelsea. It always works. I did your age and it totally worked.

Typical and obvious nonsense. (How could it possibly make sense to subtract 365 and immediately add 115? Why not just subtract 250? Why not leave the task of subtracting 250 to the asker, to make it less obvious? And are there really people out there too stupid to work out that multiplying a number by 2, adding 5 and multiplying by 50 is the same thing as multiplying by 100 and adding 250?? Did you really flunk primary school arithmetic?)

In any case, it stuffs up rather badly if you happen to have a 3-figure age. If you were born in July and 113 years old, you would end up with the answer 813, and the dumb-arse 'psychic' would end up giving your age as 13 and saying you were born in August.
